El Patron Playlist

2nd Week Scorpion Project Chalenge:


For this weeks scorpion project challenge we have decided to make a playlist for the charecter El Patron. We believe that El Patron would listen to song that maybe remind him of his childhood in mexico or maybe that make him feel good about himself as El Patron thinks very highly of himself and his wealth as a drug dealer. We also think that El Patron might listen to classical music as he used to enjoy listening to Felicia play piano.

El Patron's Playlist:

1: (Cole) Fly Me To The Moon - Sinatra: I picked this song because El Patron is an old man who I picture would listen to this song. Slow jazz and old men just kinda click. This songs lyrics speak of longing for someone. I think El Patron's longing is for money because of his greed, or maybe (if he has a heart in that old wrinkly body) a longing for someone to be his friend or companion since he has lost everybody that once loved him.  

2: (Cole) Money, Money, Money - Abba: I decided to pick this 80's song because it has light piano in the background which El Patron likes based on how he used to listen to Felicia play in the music room. The lyrics give the message that living in a rich mans world would be the best, but in El Patron's world it may not be. El Patron said that sometimes his expensive things and money don't please him any more and life just gets boring sometimes. Maybe he is trying to use money and expensive useless toys as a filler for companions and people that cheer him up. Maybe all he wants is a companion to be with and maybe that is why he creates clones. El Patron gets to spend time with a child that make him feel younger and remind him of himself in his youth, and then when El Patron kills them for body parts he gets to live longer and experience the same thing with the next clone. These both fit in with El Patron's values because he used to like to listen to Felicia play the piano and he loves being rich but may not entirely find it amusing.

3: (Mitchell) Softly Spoken Love - Godfather: Our group decided that the Godfather theme song would be great for this because El Patron is kind of like the Godfather. It has that Mobster theme, and it is an older song. It feels like El Parton, because he is old, would listen to music like this. 

4: (Cole) I am so Lonely - Akon: I decided to pick this song because El Patron is a very lonely man. He may never admit it but at the age of 145+ he was bound to have outlived everybody. As well when the most cherished person in the world is your clone, (which he will only kill and use for extra body parts) you must be very lonely. I think this may be why he must like money so much. His sisters died from typhoid when they were very young and his brothers died soon after. This left El Patron a single lonely child in a world that God let him live in. He soon became a reigning drug lord and confronted the US government saying that if they gave the drug lords a strip of land along their border to make drugs they would refuse to sell drugs to the citizens of USA. He deserted his parents and left them for the new country that would be called Opium. Before leaving for Opium Matteo Alacran (El Patron) found a wife and she and him gave birth to 5 children 1 of which (Felipe) came with Matteo to sell drugs in opium Garcia (El Patrons wife) and the four other children were deserted in mexico. So as you can see pretty much everybody he loved has died or been deserted and I think he would listen to this song on rainy days (bad days).

5: (Mitchell) It’s Money That I Love - Randy Newman: This song suits El Patron amazingly. This song is about money and has great piano. El Patron in the middle age section of the book was talking about how much he loves Felicia’s piano playing. Also El Patron loves money. He loves money more than anything so what better than a song about money with good piano for El Patron? Nothing.

6: (Mitchell) Money - The Beatles: We chose this song because this song talks about money, and we all know that El Patron loves money. More than anything actually, this song is also has a little old school feel to it. El Patron as we know is lonely and all he has is money, he made a clone for his better, he has nobody to care about. So what he does is fall to money, something that won't leave him. The lyrics have a section that says "Money, thats all I want". That is a good reflection of El Patron but I don't think that all he wants is money. He wants someone to care for him but he was too self centred before and how he pays for it.

7: (Rourk) I Need Some Money - John Lee Hooker:  I decided to pick this song because the song is a relaxed, slow paced and a chill song that El Patron would like to listen to on the long trips from each house to the other house to keep his mind on money, hanging out around the house and other wonderful things like that. This song like all others is about money and how its so important. 

8: (Rourk) Eleanor Rigby - The Beatles: This song is a song I think that El Patron would listen too when he feels depressed and alone. Since he does not have any bothers and sisters, a father and mother or a soul mate. So I bet he is usually along and sad so he rolls around in his money and wealth. I think he because a drug lord because he has no family except for Matt to care for and worry about so he went to work on the dark side. but since he is a sad, dark old man he would listen to sad songs to help.

9: (Sehajveer) Beyonce-Control (new song 2010) (Never officially released)

I chose this song cause it is about control. El Patron loves to be in control: in control of the house, the people that occupy the big house, and his own life. An example of this is when Felicia had run away and had a baby with Mr. Mcgregor. El patron went and got Felicia and the baby named Tom, and brought them back to Opium. In the book it also said that he wanted Opium to be like his old village, except when big guests come. In the big house people complain that there is no air condition

10: (Sehajveer) The incredible Hulk- The lonely man: The classic theme.
I chose this song cause it I really thought how lonely El patron would be. This is because he is about 143 years which is quite old. He has lived this old because he had clones that were healthy so he could have a transplant that he had needed. He might be lonely because he has no siblings, they had died at a very young age. He also had no wife or a life partner. His Friends and colleges have already died, as I assume. All he has left is the family members and Matt.

He does not let go of his possessions. An example of this is when Felicia had ran away and had a baby with Mr. Mcgregor. El patron went and got Felicia and the baby named Tom back to him.

11: (Sehajveer) River boat shuffle- Frankie Trumbauer & his orchestra soundtrack (Mafia 2)
This song does not have lyrics but the sound track definitely suites El Patron. This is because the main sound for this. It is something that would be played in a casino. Also this sound track is from the game mafia wars, and that that the main things are money and drugs. It is also a sound track for people that do not spend a lot of money but for ones that make a lot. This is also something that would be played at El Patron’s birthday party.
