For my fourth blog post I have decided to write about how farmer may be telling readers that their are to many illigal immigrants flocking from Mexico to the United States Of America. Ill start off by telling you why people jump the border, most people will try to jump the border between Mexico and The States because their life in their home country is rubbish and they seek to start over and build a life for themselves in their neighbouring country (usually The States). Some may be running from home or from bills that weren't payed. But the top reason why Mexicans jump the border to The States is because they are getting underpaid and cant provide for their families so the jump the border and try and construct a new life in The States. Considering illegal immigrants don't just walk in to The States waving a flag proclaiming themselves illegal immigrants, it is impossible to count how many illegal immigrants their are in USA, Based on the national census in 2000, the USA Census Bureau put the estimate of illegal immigrants at 8.7 million. But in 2003, the USA citizenship and immigration services put the number at 7 million. United States immigration officials say that the number has grown by as much as 500,000 a year maybe more. Because of all the Illegal Immigrants their are I think that Farmer has tried to make a connection with the readers that this is wrong and something should be done. Throughout the novel Farmer has made multiple connections to the real world. We don't know what exactly she is trying to tell us, but she sure does open your eyes to certain things. I found this connection very interesting and eye opening.
