The Coyotes

In this blog post I will be talking about Celia's story about the Mexican coyotes. Mexican coyotes are men who help Mexican people cross the boarder for money without the proper authority. Most coyotes just take the poor, innocent peoples money and leave them stranded in the middle of the desert to die. Over 300 people die every year just trying to get over the border, and that has been in the past 20 years. Most people try to smuggle themselves into the U.S or Canada because they are trying to escape poverty and are looking for a real opportunity in the free world. Everything Celia says in her story are completely true about how she fled for her life from mexico and how she was abandoned in the desert by a coyote.

  1. Why do you think that Celia wanted trust her life with the coyote? Do you think she knew the risks she was about to get into? Try and get more into Celia's mind. You need to explain more about what was going through Celia's mind as she was trying to escape. Do you think Celia just wanted to live somewhere else or do you think that she was trying to escape something?. Also, I don't see much connection to the article you were suppose to find. What did Celia have in common with your article, what was different? These are somethings that you should include in your future blog posts.

  2. Interesting how you connected the novel to Celia and her coyote. You should go into the impact of illegal immigration as well as a deeper insight into why they would immigrate illegally.

  3. It was a good blogpost, but it could have been more detailed. I think you should have dug a little deeper into Celia's Story and linked it to real life and how it is now. You also were supposed to have an article that was about illegal immigration. I was good for the content that was already there, but you should have answered questions like: Why do you think that Celia would use a coyote? or What is different from border protection in the book and in real life.

  4. I found it interesting how you relate many of the things in the novel with other things in real life and you also had some pretty good info about illegal immagrants. Maybe try to go a bit deeper into the understanding as to why Celia and other people would want to cross the border. Why are they so desperate? What good would it bring to them if they do? Do you think that it is worth trying to cross the border? Try and put yourself into Celia's shoes. What made her want to cross the border in the first place? Think about the live that many people have in Mexico compared to what many people have in the United States.

  5. Great job! A key area in your post that makes it superb is that you used real life facts to support you ideas. Next time maybe think about the moral aspects of border crossing, and think about the views of both perspectives and analyze each. Also try and talk more about events from the novel that connect to this border crossing.
